Christmas In Bedford Falls City Proclamation

In the summer of 1999, a small group of people from Bedford met at the Gaslite Inn, 630 Broadway to discuss promoting the downtown merchants of Bedford during the Christmas holidays.

A Mission Statement was written and reads as follows ~ “The Historic Downtown Business District is the heartbeat of Bedford. If downtown thrives, the community of Bedford will thrive.”

WHEREAS, in 2000, the name Christmas In Bedford Falls” was given to this new Bedford event, taken from the classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” staring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. By 2001, the second Saturday of December was established as Christmas In Bedford Falls” day.

WHEREAS, this year, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 Bedford will once again become “Christmas In Bedford Falls” for the day as we celebrate the Christmas holidays with family, friends and neighbors.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Stanley C. Koci, Mayor of the City of Bedford, on behalf of the City Council and Administration do hereby proclaim that the City of Bedford will be known as:

“Christmas In Bedford Falls” on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I do hereby set my hand and cause the Seal of the City of Bedford to be affixed there to this 3th day of December, 2018.
